It took almost a month to get that done. So as with other blogs in this section let me reduce the work for others!!The following is the procedure for doing it
- Apply in a plain paper for transfer mentioning your phone number and the present and the shifting address. Also mention that you need to transfer the broadand also in case you have one. No shortcuts here and one needs to find the nearest customer center (your local excahnge also would not do) to apply.
- Once you applied to track the request you need to contact the local exchange at the shifted place. Also note that your earlier number may change to a new number.
- You need to be there between 10AM-5PM on working day or Saturday and then request the local linesman to come on that time and day. This believe me is an ordeal which one would not like to go through multiple times in life.
- After the landline is transfered then another 3-4 working days is needed before your broadband also gets shifted.
- Here you just need to switch on and see if your DSL is working. No change in login/password happens.

I wish to transfer my BSNL connection along with the Broadband connection in the name of my brother (Address would be same). I had the follwoign concerns
1. What would happen to the security amount (approx Rs2500). Would this amount be transferred to my brother.
2. After the Telephone connection is transferred, would the Broadband connection be transferred automatically.
3. What are the documents required to transfer the connection. Were you required to prepare a affidavit for your case
4. What are the charges for this purpose.

You can transfer your existing Land line along with the Broadband connection to any of your blood relatives. Hust go thru the below details which I got from the BSNL site.
Transfer of Telephones
Telephone transfer can be done in the following situations:
General Transfer
Transfer on All India Basis
Third Party Transfers
General Transfer
Transfer of Telephones provided under any category is permissible in the following cases:
On death of hirer, according to his/her will. In the absence of a will , transfer is permitted to widow/ widower , children / legal successors.
When name of the subscriber is changed.
Amalgamation /Take over of registered companies.
Change in name of the Company from Private Limited to Limited and vice versa or otherwise.
Employer to Employee of a Limited Company under certain circumstances.
Proprietary concern becoming a Partnership Firm.
Sole proprietor to proprietary concern and vice versa.
From the name of a foreigner to the name of the institution where he has been working, after the foreigner leaves the country.
Change in number of partners of a firm.
Sale or dissolution of firm.
Addition or acquirement in the case of partnership concerns.
Close blood relations such as mother, father, sister, brother, husband, wife, son, daughter etc.
Note:
Prior to transfer, telephone should have worked for at least one year.
After each transfer, no further transfer to close relatives is permitted for next five years - except in the case of death.
If the telephone was provided under special category, applicant will not be eligible for a similar priority for next five years.
In all the above cases , Transfer Fee payable is Rs 100/-.

Transfer of registration on All India Basis
Transfer of registration of telephones under Non-OYT, OYT & Special categories on All India Basis is permitted in metered exchange areas.
The applicant has to apply on a plain paper giving the details of registration & category of the telephone.
Processing charges will be collected when the transfer is requested from lower to higher registration fee areas. No processing charges are collected when the transfer is requested to the same registration fee area or from higher to lower registration fee areas.
At the old station, the registration fee will be refunded without interest.
At the new station ,the applicant has to deposit the registration fee applicable to the new station & non refundable processing charges.
The Registration Transfer Certificate issued at the old station to be submitted to the new station along with application for registration on the prescribed application form within 30 days of the issue.
Interest on registration amount at the time of release of connection at the new station will be calculated from the date of original registration.

Third Party Transfers
Following conditions are to be noted for third party transfer:
Third Party Transfer of telephones provided under Special category:
Transfer permitted to any person, firm or company after 5 years.
Non-refundable transfer fee of Rs. 500/- to be paid by transferee.
Third Party Transfer of telephones provided under OYT-General & Non OYT- General category:
Transfer permitted to any person, firm or company after 5 years.
Third party transfer is permitted if date of registration cleared Non-OYT- General Category.
Transfer Fee is Rs. 500/-
Special Category telephone is converted into General Category when transferred to third party.
Transfer not eligible for special category telephone for 2 years after transfer.

It was the biggest battle to get a BSNL connection and I am terrified about my transfer.
@Megha The local office had called me in my case and asked when i will be available but once they came directly to home and checked at the reception.
Jishnu, thanks a lot for your blog. I have a clarification. If I have a BSNL BB+LL connection in City A and need to get it transferred to City B, where should I apply? At City A or City B? It might turn out to be a stupid question in the end, but would be glad if you clarified. Thanks.

In case of landline transfer of a deceased family member, do we have to give notarised noc of other family members? Do you have any idea regarding this? Because the Bsnl website says only an application on plain paper whereas the local bsnl staff demands for a notarised NOC
